Can you see the shadow of paperwhites behind the curtains? All the curtains are closed, ghetto-style, to keep out the cold.
Breakfast was scrambled egg whites with pecorino romano cheese, a bagel with butter and strawberry jam, a banana, and tea with cream and sugar. I shouldn't be hungry for awhile so I think I'll just stay here on the couch, reading shelter magazines and watching flip-it shows on A & E. Or maybe my old 1990's-era Martha Stewart TV shows.
Later on I'll go to the library to read about refinishing old floors in my favorite Old House Journal book from the '70s. It's very informative if you'd like to check it out. I finally decided to sand the painted floors in the guest bedroom, maybe with just a powerful orbital sander. They're rough and I get slivers jammed in my foot occasionally. I'm thinking of using tung oil on them. The floors, not my feet.

i'm alternating between shoveling and obsessing about my kitchen ceiling...filling holes, cracks and gaps, then sanding and more filling. I even walked around sticking little pieces of painters tape on spots I found that needed attention so I don't forget to sand the holes I fill. Just a little crazy.
We got about 15 inches of snow but it's really light so not too bad. Only got down to 3 degrees last night.
We got about 6" of snow and it was -2 this morning. It's a balmy 22 now and I'm thinking about taking a walk...or maybe a nap. Flannel nightgowns and wool socks sound divine!
Steve - No, doesn't sound obsessive to me, but I'm a little OCD anyway. Ceilings are hard. When mine was spackled during the kitchen reno, I kept going back to it cuz I thought I'd missed painting some spots. But it was just the unevenness that made it look that way. You gotta love old houses!

Isn't it surprising how we can acclimate so quickly? Makes you appreciate temps in the 20's!
