My niece, sister and I decided to embrace Snowmaggedon and headed to Laconia, New Hampshire to see the annual Sled Dog Derby, which dates back to 1929. My lovely niece has been obsessed with all things Alaska since she was a little girl. She did a missions trip with her church to Homer, did an internship in Seward, and taught third grade in the Arctic Circle. We are very proud of her going across the country immediately upon accepting a job, to live and work in Alaska. She likes the weather, and said it only bothered her when it got to 50 below zero!

Mush, Yukon Cornelius, mush! |
We walked along Lake Winnipesaukee and snow-shoed on a beautiful trail at Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown. It was cold but exhilarating.

The dogs made noises like I've never heard.

My niece's Siberian Husky, Piper, enjoying the races. Yes, it's snowing.

My niece explained that nowadays hound mixes are the dogs of choice.

Bear Brook State Park. Please excuse Piper relieving herself. |
Piper was very well behaved. And people in New Hampshire are super friendly and helpful. A good time was had by all.
P.S. I would have posted more pictures but they had my family members in them. In case you haven't noticed, I don't show any family or friends due to my profession. And no, I'm not in the C.I.A.
