Renovating/restoring my vernacular gothic revival cottage in a neighborhood of mostly late-19th-century homes on a narrow, steep little street.
It's not my favourite look if the entire shelf or bookcase is filled with books grouped by colour because then it looks like a rainbow. But a few stacks broken up by art or objets looks nice. It's something I've been doing for a couple years now - grouping by theme first, then spine colour too.
Smart idea. Nice blog.
Useful content and awesome design you got here! I want to thank you for sharing your solutions and taking the time into the stuff you publish! Sublime work!
I didn't know this was a thing! I like it in theory. I think the red & blues look really cool together. I guess white is hard because there's lots of creams/ivory/etc. All my books are in storage, but perhaps I'll have to try this when I get them out (and have some sort of shelf!)
Rachel,I rearranged everything over the weekend by genre. I especially like seeing my collection of decorating books. I also need to purge. I have my professional books in my office, but there's some overlapping and I should probably do some swapping out with those in the living room.I looked at your blog. You two are ambitious--blessings on your venture!
